Knitting on the go... and on the stop?

Picnic time for the family!!

Child was given a kite by the paternal Grandfather yesterday, so we decided a picnic on the windiest hill we know was the order of the afternoon/evening.

We gave her a picnic choice; Maccy D's or baguette and various meats? she went for baguette and meat. that bought, we headed off up the hill. fun and frolicks ensued....

Child then decided that climbing a tree would be a great idea, we encouraged her because it's important for kids to be adventurous.......

Well. Ok. It didn't go well. This is where my knitting evening continued.....Yeah. She jumped out of the tree. She didn't fall. SHE JUMPED. when asked why, she couldn't say. she hadn't thought it was as high as it was..... she jumped about 6ft, landed hard on her feet which then started bruising while she was screaming her little head off...... SO.......

3 hours in A+E, she's fine. bruised and bashed, but undetterred and determined to climb another day lol. Thanks again to Basildon Hospital children's A+E staff for being awesome lol.

Two in one day?!

yep. two. count them. yeah. cabling and great British sewing bee. what's not to love?!

still working on learning the app

I was planning on taking a couple of pics at a home ed group today, but after telling off the group leader for having a go at a little boy with aspergers, I figured sitting knitting might seem disrespectful!!

Hey ho. I'm home now lol.

I'm not liking how the app doesn't resize my pics. I'm probably missing something.....

Trying out the android app.....

Thought I'd try the loggers android app. (and obviously my GOOGLE programmed phone doesn't even recognise the name of google's own blog system. could be a kink to work out there.... )

here's a photo of today's knitting. my livingroom. messy coffee table, tv, still on the owlet. rock on!

Busy Saturday

The child started Brownies recently and went on her first trip today to see some guiding show or another at the local theatre. I do not drive, so it meant bussing it into town, dropping her off then killing 4 hours until she was finished.

of course I had shopping to do, but guess what? I also had to knit. the Owlet is coming along nicely with me getting a row in here and there.

so, I dopped her off, did some knitting in the square, did some shopping, realised no more would fit in my wheelie box and I still had 2 hours to kill, took the shopping home (unlimited bus ticket), dropped that off, went back to asda, did the rest of the shopping then went to get the child. by the time that had all happened, I was pooped so we got a taxi home. Istupidly put my knitting bag in the boot though, so no taxi pic :(

 Basildon, St Martin's Square

Waiting for a bus with my wheelie box and extra bags. yes, I made the orange one. I also crochet... but "If I sits, I crochets" didn't have the same ring.

On the bus home.

Last Year

I did mention I knit everywhere... right?!

London to Nottingham, summer half term I think.....Sirdar chunky something or other, 5.5mm circular needle.

Nottingham to London, 2 days later. yep. I'm wearing the same jumper. This is also before I discovered that metal needles make my hands hurt :(

Sea Palling, Norfolk. Late August 2012. yes. those are boobs. And that's my disasterous home dyed yarn. it dyed my fingers and needles too. I'd not rinsed it enough!!!

Travel Knitting

This is, simply, a blog about my knitting. However, I knit A LOT. I knit wherever I sit down.... and that includes any time I am on public transport. I am a non-driving, home educating mum and that means I have a
the added bonus of a lot of knitting time available to me.

I intend to take photos of the random places I can be caught knitting.

So, on with the show. Today's trip: our home in Basildon to Colchester to see family. For those who care, I'm using Cygnet 100% acrylic yarn; I knit within my means, and am allergic to wool... if I had a million pounds I'd knit in nothing but my favorite bamboo/silk or bamboo/cotton blends, but there we go.... In this set of pictures, I'm working on a Kate Davies Owlet for my daughter. It'll be my third KD Owls; I made mine first, Squidge got jealous and demanded one, then the little bean grew... so I'm having to knit her a new one. I'm using a 6.5mm bamboo circular needle that's about 40cm long. I say about, I had to modify it using a craft knife and some superglue. It's a really cheap needle that's still yellow after a disaster with hand dyed yarn last summer (I didn't rinse enough).

11:03 London Liverpool Street to Colchester Town; photo taken just north of Ingatestone.

Sitting at the North Station bus stop, waiting for my mum to collect us.

 In my mum's car. that's my brother's head. he still lives at home. I'm 30, he's 20.

Colchester town centre, Culver Square. outside Superdry, having just imbibed a foot long sausage from the Hot Sausage stand. bit of a rest enroute to Fabric8, my favorite shop in the whole universe.

On the 17:03 Greater Anglia service from Norwich to London Liverpool Street. photo shows my squidgiebean looking REALLY impressed with the whole blog idea. Photo taken just south of Kelvedon, enroute to Shenfield to meet the Manflesh for a lift home.

I often have more than one project on the go at any one time, so it wont always be lovely purple chunky yarn.

TTFN!!!!
